Good News Garage (GNG) was founded in 1996 as one of the first nonprofit car donation programs in the U.S. Our goal is to repair donated cars, as needed, and award them to individuals and families striving for self-sufficiency.
Over the last 28 years, we have provided nearly 6,000 New England families with donated vehicles, empowering them to move out of poverty and into financial independence and social stability.

What do I need to donate my vehicle to Good News Garage in Maine?
All you need is the car’s certificate of title and the keys!
What will happen to my vehicle after I donate it?
We inspect every donated car to see if it can be repaired and awarded to a neighbor in need. Donated vehicles that require excessive repairs or would be too expensive to maintain are sold at an auction. The sale of cars at auction provides critical funds to help pay for repairs on vehicles that are more appropriate for a client. No matter what, your donated vehicle helps your neighbors in need!
Did you know that most car donation charities sell 100% of the donated cars they receive? Our goal is always to repair and award donated cards back to people in our community working to move forward in their lives.
Will Good News Garage pick up my car in Maine?
Yes! Good News Garage will tow away or pick up your vehicle free-of-charge from anywhere in Maine or nearby states. We will work with you to schedule a time for pick-up that’s convenient for you.
Is my car donation tax deductible?
Yes! Good News Garage is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is one of the few car donation charities in the country that can offer a fair market value tax deduction if your donated car is awarded to a family in need. How long does it take to donate a car in Maine?
The car donation process is fast and easy! Our team will contact you to arrange the pickup of your car shortly after you submit our online donation form or call our office. You can start your online donation here.
Can I donate other types of motorized vehicles?
In addition to cars, trucks, and vans, you can donate your boat, motorcycle, moped, commercial van, handicapped-equipped vehicle, RV, tractor and more! Depending on the vehicle, Good News Garage may find it a new home or auction it to support our programs. Either way, donating any vehicle supports our program and helps us provide affordable, reliable cars to neighbors in need!
